The Canadian Resident Matching Service (CaRMS) is a national not-for-profit organization that provides a unique electronic matching service for medical education training in Canada. CaRMS provides an orderly and transparent process for applicants to decide where to train in Canada and for programs to indicate which applicants they wish to enrol in medical residency training. CaRMS was incorporated in 1994 under Part II of the Canada Corporations Act, and its member organizations include key stakeholders in Canadian medical education.
CaRMS' member organizations appoint individuals to serve on the CaRMS Board of Directors. Once appointed to the Board, directors with their unique perspectives from their appointing organizations act in a fiduciary capacity on behalf of CaRMS in their deliberations and in their decisions.
