About the FM/EM match - Introduction

Welcome to the R-3 Family Medicine / Emergency Medicine Match administered by CaRMS.

CaRMS will keep updating information regarding this Match, so take the time to visit our website regularly.

Registration for the R-3 match starts August 3, 2011.

When registering for the match you will be asked to pay a $95.00 verification fee. If you are currently enrolled in a Family Medicine residency program, this amount will be credited to your account.

After completing the registration process and payment of the fees, you will be sent a token electronically to allow you to get started with your online application, beginning August 24, 2011.

In the meantime, you will be able to start collecting references (from referees and program / site directors) by printing the reference forms required by all programs and have them distributed to your referees who will then fill them and send them to the CaRMS office (see form on the special page on Supporting Documents).

Once AWS is open, you need to create cover sheets for your references on AWS, have them printed and send them to CaRMS for us to match with the appropriate references already received at our premises.

The whole application and matching process is pretty similar to our main R-1 Match and relies on a timetable with firm dates around ranking time. Please always refer to the milestones and deadlines indicated on our timetable to complete the process in due time.
