Family Medicine/Emergency Medicine Match (FM/EM match)
Application Process - Overview

Online Application
All applicants must
complete a Request
for Registration.
Once your Request for
Registration has been reviewed and verified, eligible applicants will
be sent a token by e-mail. The tokens are generally sent in bulk; please
make sure that your e-mail account can accept these types of e-mails.
You will use the token sent to you by e-mail to access the Applicant
Webstation (AWS). This is where the application process takes place.
You should begin working on your application as soon as possible to avoid
the last minute rush as the milestone for completion approaches. Once
the application has been submitted you cannot make modifications to
it. You must use the update notes section to inform programs of changes.
Supporting documents are the documents you assign to the programs to
which you have applied to support your application.
Details as to which
documents programs would like to receive can be found in the program
descriptions in the program
directory.
You can work on creating your extra documents, list of references and
personal letters at the same time as you complete the information sections
of your application. All documents other than your personal letter must
be sent to CaRMS with the appropriate cover sheet for processing. For
details please see supporting
documents.
As you are completing your application you can begin selecting programs to which you wish to apply. However, you cannot submit these selections until you have submitted your application.
You must have submitted your program choices before you can begin assigning
documents to those programs. All document assignments do not have to
be done at the same time. It is a process that takes a long time to complete,
so do not leave it until the last minute.
Applicants are responsible for scheduling
interviews directly with the programs, not through CaRMS. You will
generally receive an invitation for an interview by e-mail so please check
to make sure that these e-mail have not been sent to “junk mail
or trash”.
You must only rank programs to which you have applied; however there is no obligation
to rank any program to which you have applied.
For further
details on ranking please see the ranking section.
You will access your match results from the Applicant Webstation (AWS).
