Pour le Québec, ceci équivaut donc à être en 2 ème année de formation postdoctorale en médecine familiale ou d’avoir passé les examens terminaux québécois menant au permis de pratique en médecine familiale.

United States Medical Graduates

All graduates of ACGME accredited programs can become eligible and sit the examination during the final six months of their program or after completion of training. They must join the CFPC as resident members, and provide evidence that they are registered in an accredited program.

To be actually granted certification they must:

• pass the CCFP exam,
• provide evidence of having completed their training (as do Canadian FM residents) and
• they must also sit and pass the American Board exam in family medicine (normally held in July of the year they complete training)

Certification is granted as soon as we receive confirmation of their Diplomate status with the American Board of Family Medicine.

Memorial University of Newfoundland

• Canadian citizen/permanent resident
• Must be eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador
  AND
• Currently registered in second year of CFPC program
  OR
• Already obtained CCFP certification or eligible to write the CFPC examination

Dalhousie University

• You must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada to be eligible.

Université Laval

Admissibilité à déposer une demande d’admission au Québec :  Tous les postulants doivent s’être inscrits aux examens de médecine familiale du Collège des médecins de famille du Canada (CMFC) ou doivent avoir réussi ces examens et détenir un certificat à cet effet (ceci s’applique aux candidats qui pratiquent actuellement).  Sont considérés comme admissibles :

1. Les résidents actuellement inscrits en médecine familiale dans un des quatre programmes de médecine familiale au Québec.
2. Les diplômés MD du QC qui complètent actuellement une résidence en médecine familiale ailleurs au Canada.
3. Les citoyens canadiens ou résidents permanents du Canada, qui sont diplômés (MD) d’une faculté de médecine canadienne ou américaine, qui complètent actuellement une résidence en médecine familiale ailleurs au Canada.
4. Les médecins de famille qui détiennent un certificat de médecine de familiale du CMFC et qui ont pratiqué la médecine au Québec depuis au moins 6 mois au cours des 5 dernières années OU les MD QC qui détiennent un certificat de médecine de famille du CFPC et qui ont pratiqué pendant au moins 6 mois n’importe où au monde au cours des 5 dernières années.  Ces candidats doivent avoir complété leur formation en médecine familiale au cours des 5 dernières années.

Université de Sherbrooke

McGill University

Eligibility to apply for a position in Quebec: All candidates need to have applied for the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) Family Medicine exam or to hold a CFPC Family Medicine certificate (in the case of re-entry positions).  Are eligible to apply:

1. Family Medicine residents presently completing their residency in one of the four Quebec Family Medicine programs. 
2. Quebec Medical graduates (MD) who are presently completing their residency in a Canadian Family Medicine program. 
3. Out of province Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents of Canada, who are graduates of a Canadian or American medical school and who are currently registered in a Canadian Family Medicine Program. 
4. Licensed Family Medicine practitioners who have practiced in Quebec for at least 6 months in the last 5 years OR Quebec Medical Graduates who hold a CFPC Family Medicine certificate and who have practiced for at least 6 months anywhere in the world in the last 5 years.  These applicants must have completed their Family Medicine training in the last 5 years.

Applicants to the Ontario PGY3 FM/Emergency Medicine programs must meet the following criteria:

1. Legal Status: Must have Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Residency at time Rank Order List deadline.
   
   
2. PG Enrolment: Currently enrolled as a PGY2 in a Canadian Family Medicine residency program (see notes 1, 2 & 3 below).
   
   
3. Source of MD: Graduate of Canadian, U.S., or International Medical School (see notes 4 & 5 below).

Notes:

1. Family Physicians who completed their PGY2 training and are currently in practice are not eligible for the PGY3 FM Emergency Medicine Match but may apply to access PGY3 FM Emergency Medicine training via the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care's Re-entry Program. Re-Entry Program information is available at the following website: MOHLTC
   
   
2. Off-cycle applicants (i.e. completing PGY2 year after or significantly before June 30th) must declare the completion date of their PGY2 FM training in the application package or cover letter. While some programs are able admit residents off-cycle, others are not.
   
   
3. Residents currently enrolled in an ACGME accredited Family Medicine residency programs in the U.S. who are Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents may apply to the PGY3 FM Emergency Medicine Match if they meet the CFPC requirements outlined on the College of Family Physicians of Canada website at: CFPC
   
   
4. IMGs are required to sign a return of service contract with the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care of the Province of Ontario in accordance with the conditions of the Ministry's Return of Service Programs. As an Ontario IMG you will not be required to fulfill an addition ROS, but should contact the MOHLTC regarding current ROS commitment.

5. Return of Service:
   
   
   1. Any candidate with a Return of Service (ROS) commitment in any jurisdiction must declare it on his/her application.
      
      
   2. Any candidate with an ROS commitment in another jurisdiction must submit an undertaking from his/her provincial government/Health Care Authority or other entity that the entity will permit the candidate to complete his/her ROS in Ontario before beginning the ROS in the other jurisdiction.
      
      
   3. Any candidate with an ROS commitment in another jurisdiction must submit an undertaking that he or she will complete his/her ROS in Ontario before beginning the ROS in the other jurisdiction.

The ROS to Ontario must commence within the timeframe set out in the ROS contract with Ontario and is to be done in a location as approved by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, in accordance with that contract.

University of Manitoba

• Be a Canadian Citizen or hold Landed Immigrant (Permanent Resident) Status in Canada (proof required in order to ensure eligibility)
• Currently in a Family Medicine Residency program* OR
• Have the CCFP designation
• Must be eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba
  
  *Successful applicants must hold a CCFP designation at the time the Emergency Medicine training commences

University of Saskatchewan

Applicants to the University of Saskatchewan PGY3 Family Medicine/Emergency Medicine programs must meet the following criteria:

• Must be a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident or Landed Immigrant at the time of application.
  
  
• Must currently be in a Family Medicine Residency program* OR
  
  
• Have obtained the CCFP designation.
  
  
• Must be eligible for and maintain registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan for an educational register license.
  
  
• Must be eligible for and maintain privileges within the Saskatchewan Health Region as determined by its credentialing process. Saskatchewan Health Regions require successful applicants to submit a current criminal record check as part of its pre-resident application for appointment. Applicants with criminal records will be considered on a case by case basis by the College of Medicine in consultation with the Health Region.
  
  
• Applicants who are IMGs must meet the additional criteria listed in the University of Saskatchewan program information/university information.
  
  
• Prior to commencement of training, successful applicants must also provide proof of:
  1. current ACLS certification;
  2. immunization and immunity to Hepatitis B (Anti-HBs titre), varicella, and rubella, measles and mumps (MMR)
  
  
  * Successful applicants must hold a CCFP designation at the time the Emergency Medicine training commences.

University of Alberta

• Be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident
  AND
• Be currently in a Family Medicine Residency program
  OR
• Have the CCFP designation

University of Calgary

• current enrollment as a PGY-2 resident in a Canadian Family Medicine residency   OR
• practicing physician with a CCFP designation AND
• must be a Canadian Citizen or permanent resident.

University of British Columbia

• Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
• Currently enrolled in a family medicine program OR
• Already holding CCFP certification
• If applying through the “rural route”, must have the intention to practice in a rural / regional setting
