Invitation/Notification Information:
All applications will be reviewed by the program director and suitable candidates will be invited for an interview. For those candidates unable to attend to travel to London for the scheduled interview day, alternative arrangements can be made.

Details regarding interview
All interviews will be conducted by the Division of GIM Faculty and current PGY4 trainees. Site visits/tours will be made available for out of town applicants.

Selection Criteria

All application files are reviewed by the Program’s Selection Committee using the following criteria:

  • Letters of reference
  • Academic performance
  • Scholarly activity (research awards, presentations, publications, etc)
  • Teaching excellence
  • Administrative involvement
  • Personal interview


Program Highlights

Monthly journal club
  • Evening discussions over dinner to discuss current medical literature. Presentations prepared by both trainees and faculty.

GIM Educational Seminar Series
  • Weekly rounds feature presentations by trainees, faculty, and guest speakers.

CSIM conference
  • All trainees receive funding to attend GIM national meeting.

Longitudinal GIM clinics
  • During the ambulatory GIM block, all trainees attend longitudinal clinics with selected faculty where patients are followed by the trainee to provide continuity of care and to develop outpatient consultative skills.


Program Curriculum

13 - 4 week blocks of additional training in General Internal Medicine. Mandatory rotations include:

  • Ambulatory GIM (6 blocks)
  • Junior CTU Attending (2 blocks)
  • Community GIM (1 block)
  • ICU (1 block)
  • Electives (3 blocks)


Elective rotations are tailored to meet the career goals of the individual trainee. Common elective choices include: additional ICU or community rotations, non-invasive cardiology, or ambulatory sub-specialty rotations.

Additional funding is available for a PGY5 year during which time; a trainee could purse additional training in one sub-specialty, or develop a research interest. For those interested in pursing an academic career MSc level research could be started in fields such as medical education, clinical epidemiology, or basic sciences.
