Metro Toronto Convention Centre
The Canadian Resident Matching Service (CaRMS) will host the third annual International Medical Graduate Information Symposium, an all-day event, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on Thursday, October 7th, 2010.
The symposium provides a central forum for organizations in the Canadian medical education sector to address and interact with international medical graduates (IMGs). The goal of this event is to provide IMGs with the opportunity to understand the pathways to practice in Canada, and to learn about the key organizations involved in the integration of IMGs into the Canadian health care system.
In addition to CaRMS, the following organizations will be participating in this year’s event:
- Medical Council of Canada (MCC)
- Access Centre, HealthForceOntario Marketing and Recruitment Agency
- Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)
- College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
- Federation of Medical Regulatory Authorities of Canada (FMRAC)
- Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC)
- Canadian Medical Association (CMA)
Moreover, there will be various IMG-related organizations from across the country who will also be exhibiting at the symposium.
The Medical Council of Canada (MCC) will be hosting two of the many workshops being held at this year’s event. One will introduce the MCC, and provide IMGs with an overview of the examination process. The other will talk about the National Assessment Collaboration (NAC), and the new examination that the collaboration is coordinating, the National Assessment Collaboration Objective Structured Clinical Examination (NAC OSCE).

Registration for the symposium will open mid August. CaRMS is looking forward to another successful year as hosts of this event. For additional information or inquiries, please e-mail events@carms.ca.
