Dr. Bandiera has degrees in Engineering/Management Science (Waterloo), Medicine (McMaster), and Education (OISE/UT). He completed an Emergency Medicine Residency with advanced training in Trauma Resuscitation at McMaster University. Glen served for ten years as a staff emergency physician and Trauma Team Leader at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto. He then completed two 5 year terms as Chief of Emergency Medicine at St. Michael’s Hospital, the last seven years of which he concurrently served as Associate Dean, Postgraduate Medical Education at the University of Toronto where he has the rank of Full Professor.

Glen’s academic interests include assessment, faculty development, and medical leadership; he has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers and chapters in these areas and has been involved in speaking and consultation work in many countries around the world. He has used his expertise to advance leadership capacity, competency assessment, and inclusivity strategies at the local, national, and international levels.

Dr. Bandiera currently holds the position of Executive Director of Standards and Assessment at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Select past national positions include Chair of the Accreditation Committee and Emergency Medicine Specialty Committee of the Royal College, President of the Canadian Association For Medical Education; and founding Director of the Canadian Association for Medical Education Foundation.

Glen’s contributions to institutional governance include past membership on the Boards of Directors of St. Michael’s Hospital and St. Joseph’s Health Science Centre in Toronto. He currently serves on the Shaw Festival Board of Directors in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, University of Toronto Governing Council, the Touchstone Institute and CPSO Council.
