Dr. Sylvain Coderre was born and raised in Ottawa, and did his medical school, Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology training in Ottawa. In 1997, he moved to Calgary to start a practice in Gastroenterology at the Peter Lougheed Hospital, where he is still practicing today. He completed a Masters in Medical Education from the University of Calgary in 2000.
Since that time, he has taken on a number of educational leadership roles including: Clerkship Director for Internal Medicine (2000-2004), Assistant Dean Undergraduate Medical Education (2005-2010), Vice-Chair Department of Medicine Education (2011-2014). Since July 2014, he has served as the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Medical Education at the Cumming School of Medicine in Calgary. He has published over 40 peer-review publications, mostly in the area of medical education, specifically in clinical reasoning, skills training, curricular design and evaluation/blueprinting.
