Personal letters are written by applicants to introduce themselves to programs and to express interest in a specific program and/or discipline. Your personal letter outlines the reasons why you have chosen a particular training program. Each program has preferences regarding what the personal letter should contain. Please check the individual program descriptions for more information.
You must enter personal letters directly into your electronic application file. Personal letters sent to CaRMS in hardcopy will not be scanned. You can write the letter directly in the online system or use an offline word processing program and paste the text into the online system. Personal letters do not require a coversheet.
Ensure personal letters are complete before assigning them to programs. Once assigned to a program, personal letters cannot be altered. Personal letters should be completed and assigned by the document assignment milestone as outlined in the applicant timelines.
