Application process now open for 2015 Sandra Banner Student Award for Leadership!
The SBSAL was established in 2013 by the Canadian Resident Matching Service (CaRMS) Board of Directors in recognition of the over 28 years of leadership Sandra Banner has provided to CaRMS. The purpose of the SBSAL is to encourage the development of future leaders in medicine through public recognition and financial support to learners that have demonstrated interest in/aptitude for leadership.
We are pleased to announce a major change in the award selection process. Starting in 2015, two SBSAL winners will be selected each year: one from among the undergraduate medical student applicants and another from among the postgraduate medical trainee applicants.
The award is accompanied by funding to support each learner’s proposed leadership activities and will again be presented at the annual CaRMS Forum during the Canadian Conference on Medical Education in Vancouver in April 2015.
Students and residents can learn more about eligibility criteria and apply for the award through our new online application process by visiting carms.ca/sbsal.
