CaRMS announces new CEO
OTTAWA – The Canadian Resident Matching Service (CaRMS) is pleased to announce that John Gallinger will be joining the organization as CEO, effective June 15, 2015.
John is an accomplished executive who will put his extensive leadership experience in the health care, professional services and resources sectors into practice at CaRMS. His experience in for-profit and not-for-profit settings includes executive level roles with prominent Canadian organizations such as VON Canada, where he was Chief Operating Officer and Interim CEO, as well as Enbridge and Emco.
“I am delighted with the opportunity to work with the board, staff, partners and stakeholders of CaRMS as it continues in its pivotal role and charts a path for the future,” Gallinger said.
In addition to his professional experience, John believes in giving back to the community. He has held numerous volunteer board positions while also doing individual volunteer work with adult literacy groups and Habitat for Humanity.
“The CaRMS Board of Directors is delighted to welcome John,” said Board Chair Dr. Willa Henry. “His wealth of expertise and leadership will be a tremendous asset to CaRMS as we continue to enhance our services and our relationships within Canada’s medical education community.”
Also effective June 15, 2015, outgoing CaRMS CEO Sandra Banner will take the position of CEO Emeritus. In this capacity Sandra will assist with the transition of leadership and continue working on collaborative research projects until her departure from the organization on December 31, 2015.
The Canadian Resident Matching Service (CaRMS) is a national, not-for-profit, fee-for-service organization established in 1969 at the request of medical students seeking an independent entity to provide a fair and transparent application and matching service for entry into postgraduate medical training throughout Canada.
