Changes to Ontario eligibility criteria for R-1 match

Recent updates to Ontario’s eligibility requirements for international medical graduates (IMGs) state that while the National Assessment Collaboration (NAC) Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) is mandatory for all IMGs applying for the 2015-16 academic year, IMG residents using the second iteration of the CaRMS match to transfer programs will be temporarily exempt from completing the NAC OSCE. For further details, review the full eligibility criteria for Ontario.

In addition, IMGs should note that while previous eligibility requirements included proof of graduation from a medical school listed in the International Medical Education Directory (IMED) managed by the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER), the school of graduation must now be listed in the new World Directory of Medical Schools, which provides a comprehensive compilation of the information previously contained in the IMED and the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME)’s Avicenna directory.
