New CaRMS officers and Board directors announced
The CaRMS Board of Directors is pleased to announce the election of a number of new officers and directors following approval of the nomination slate presented at the November 6, 2014 CaRMS Board meeting in Toronto.
Dr. Willa Henry, Program Director of Postgraduate Medical Education at the University of British Columbia and former Vice-Chair of the Board, was elected Chair of the Board, replacing outgoing Chair Dr. Thomas Marrie, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Dalhousie University.
Dr. Janice Willett, Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs at Northern Ontario School of Medicine was elected Vice-Chair of the Board, replacing Dr. Willa Henry. Dr. Kenneth Harris, Executive Director of the Office of Education at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada was elected Acting Treasurer, replacing outgoing Treasurer Dr. Anurag Saxena, Associate Dean of Postgraduate Medical Education at the University of Saskatchewan. Other outgoing directors include Dr. Jesse Kancir, Dr. Joanna Lazier, Ms. Anne McGuire and Dr. Ira Ripstein.
Six new directors have also joined the CaRMS Board: Dr. Jacques Bradwejn, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa; Dr. Brendan Carr, President and CEO of Island Health in British Columbia; Dr. Catherine Cervin, Associate Dean of Postgraduate Medical Education at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine; Mr. Irfan Kherani, medical student at the University of Alberta; Dr. Robert Primavesi, Associate Dean of Medical Education and Student Affairs at McGill University; and Dr. Peter Sytnik, medical resident at the University of Manitoba.
The CaRMS Board of Directors extends a warm welcome to its newest officers and directors and its sincere gratitude to all its outgoing directors for their wisdom, guidance, dedication and commitment to CaRMS.
