The 3 Quebec Faculties of Medicine offer training in sub specialties of Pediatrics to candidates who are, at the time of the Match, in their second year of Pediatrics in a Canadian or American Faculty of Medicine and who fulfill the following criteria:
These positions are available to current Quebec Pediatrics residents presently admitted via this quota;
Positions are also available to residents currently registered in their 2nd, 3rd or 4th year in Pediatrics or in any other Pediatric Subspecialty Program in a Canadian Medical School outside of Québec or in an American Medical School; as well as to Pediatric Residents admitted via this quota and currently R2s in Pediatrics in a Québec Faculty of Medicine.
To be eligible, candidates have to hold:
An MD from a Canadian or a US Medical School.
Hold a D.O from a school accredited by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association.
International Medical Graduates (DHCEU) who have previously obtained equivalence of their MD from the Collège des médecins du Québec.
The following applicants are not eligible:
- Visa trainees not currently registered via the contingent régulier in a Quebec program.
- Applicants from the Canadian Armed Forces.
International Medical Graduates who are Canadian Citizens and/ or Permanent Residents of Canada who are eligible to participate in the Pediatric Subspecialties Match must have previously obtained equivalence of their MD from the Collège des médecins du Québec and must currently be:
- Registered in a contingent régulier or a contingent particulier position in Pediatrics in one of the 4 Quebec Faculties of Medicine.
- Registered in a Pediatrics Residency Program in Canada or in the U.S.
Residents who are currently in their 3rd or 4th year in Pediatrics or in a Pediatric Subspecialty Program and who were previously matched into General Pediatrics or into a Subspecialty Pediatric Program during their 2nd year of core Pediatrics in a Quebec Faculty of Medicine and who want to redirect to another Pediatric Subspecialty Program are required to do so through the Changes of Programs process and follow the application deadlines. They are not allowed to participate in the Pediatric Subspecialties Match.
