CRITERIA FOR ALL MEDICAL GRADUATES |

GENERAL INFORMATION | Three Quebec Faculties of Medicine (Université Laval, McGill University, Université de Montréal) offer training in subspecialties of Pediatrics to candidates who are, at the time of the Match, in their third year of Pediatrics in a Canadian or American Faculty of Medicine. Some specific programs (Adolescent medicine, Developmental pediatrics) are opened to fourth year pediatrics residents.
In the contingent particulier only (see below), residents currently in their fourth year in pediatrics, in a faculty of Medicine in a province other than Quebec, could also be considered. |

TRAINING LEVEL ELIGIBILITY | Subspecialty: Pediatrics subspecialties
Subspecialty: Pediatric Critical Care Medicine
Subspecialty: Pediatric Emergency Medicine
Candidates must be ready to start their specialty training at the latest on June 3, 2024. Only residents from the core program in pediatrics whose training is out of phase by seven or more periods at the deadline for the submission and assignment of applications and documents may be exceptionally authorized to switch to a later cohort. Residents in this situation who wish to take advantage of this possibility must present a written request to their Faculty’s office of Postgraduate Medical Education. The request to switch cohorts must be approved by the Associate Dean of Postgraduate Medical Education and is irreversible. |

RESTRICTIONS | For NON MOH (non-Ministry of Health funded positions), candidates who obtained their MD in Québec and who have completed or currently completing residency training in Québec (whether in the contingent régulier or the contingent particulier) are not eligible.
Residents who are currently in a Pediatric Subspecialty Program who want to redirect to another Pediatric Subspecialty Program are required to do so through the Changes of Programs process and follow the application deadlines. They are not allowed to participate in the Pediatric Subspecialties Match. The following applicants are not eligible:

CITIZENSHIP REQUIREMENTS |
IMPORTANT: Visa students are eligible only if they are already in Quebec with a student permit CaRMS is partnering with third-party organizations to automate the verification of citizenship/legal status required by postgraduate offices for entry into residency. Third-party verification simplifies the process for applicants and programs. All applicants who do not receive third-party citizenship verification will be required to upload and assign an acceptable proof of citizenship document. Please see additional information here. |
ADDITIONAL CRITERIA FOR CANADIAN MEDICAL GRADUATEA Canadian Medical Graduate (CMG) or U.S. Allopathic Medical Graduate (USMG) is an individual who received their medical degree from a medical school accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools (CACMS) or the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME). |

ADDITIONAL CRITERIA FOR INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL GRADUATESAn International Medical Graduate (IMG) is an individual who received their medical degree from a medical school that is listed with the World Directory of Medical Schools (World Directory) published by the Foundation for the Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER) and the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME). A U.S. Osteopathic Medical Graduate (USMG- Osteo) is an individual who received their medical degree from an accredited Osteopathic medical school. |
