The 2025 R-1 Main Residency Match timeline is not yet available.
Match timelines are drafted by CaRMS and provided to the Association of Faculties of Medicine Canada Resident Matching Committee (ARMC) for consultation and approval. They are posted once approved.
The AFMC Board of Directors has approved the following high-level dates for the 2024 R-1 Main Residency Match. A more detailed timeline will be posted in the near future.
MSPR/transcript submission deadline (documents not requiring translation): Friday, Nov 17, 2023
Application deadline: Friday, December 1, 2023
File review period: Friday, December 1, 2023 to Monday, January 15, 2024
Interview period: Monday, January 15, 2024 to Sunday, February 4, 2024
Match Day – first iteration: Tuesday, March 19, 2024
Match Day – second iteration: Thursday, April 25, 2024

CaRMS Online opens for applicants
Applicants may begin the application process.
Current year Canadian medical graduates (CMGs), are sent an email with information on how to log into CaRMS Online and start their application.
Applicants who participated in a previous match can log into their CaRMS Online account using their existing username and password to participate in the match. Anyone who has forgotten their username or password can click on the ‘Forgot your username or password option’ on the CaRMS Online login page.
Applicants who are not current year Canadian medical graduates (CMGs) and do not already have a CaRMS Online account, will need to register for the match.
Program descriptions approved by PGME offices and available on carms.ca
Program descriptions for all programs participating in the match should be approved and available on carms.ca for applicants to review. Once program descriptions are approved, they are immediately available on carms.ca for applicants to consult.
