Submissions for the 2025 Sandra Banner Student Award for Leadership (SBSAL) are now being accepted.
The closing date to submit online applications is January 31, 2025 at 17:00 ET. Late applications will not be considered
Submissions will be evaluated based on the strength of individual online applications and accompanying letters of support (requested by applicants and sent directly to CaRMS by supervisors).
For the 2025 SBSAL application cycle, the Committee’s evaluation, scoring, and selection criteria will align with the LEADS in a Caring Environment capabilities framework. The LEADS framework represents the key skills, behaviours, abilities, and knowledge required to lead in all sectors and levels of the health system. It presents a common understanding of what good leadership looks, feels, and sounds like across all levels of service provision in healthcare.

Supervisors should email their support letters directly to CaRMS, without sharing the content of their letters with you the applicant. The deadline for CaRMS’ receipt of support letters is January 31, 2025. Letters should be sent to awardscommittee@carms.ca and include the following subject line:
