Dr. Morkar completed his medical training in South Africa. He is an FRCPC-certified Internist who has been practising both inpatient and outpatient care in St. John’s. His special interests include HIV medicine. He currently leads the Newfoundland and Labrador HIV program. Dr. Morkar also has a keen interest in metabolic liver disease.

Dr. Morkar is an Associate Professor with Memorial University’s Faculty of Medicine. He is actively involved in both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and has received numerous teaching awards at both levels. Dr. Morkar has held various leadership roles including that of Academic Chair for the Department of Medicine. He is currently serving his second term as the Clinical Chief for the Medicine program (Eastern Region, Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services).
