Training Level
	The first iteration is open to residents currently in a recognized Royal College PGY3 Internal Medicine program. Applications that are off-cycle by more than six months (with a start date after December 31^st) are not eligible for this year’s PGY4 match.	Positions in the first iteration are not open to PGY4 Internal Medicine trainees, but if they meet admissions criteria, PGY4’s will be considered for the second iteration.
Training Program
	Dalhousie University will also consider Canadians and those with permanent resident status who are currently in an accredited United States Internal Medicine Training program, but a copy of the candidates RCPSC Assessment of Training must be provided at the time of application. All applicants must be eligible to register for an educational license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.

	You must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada at the time of application to be eligible (proof is required from all candidates in order to ensure eligibility). Return of Service
	Any candidate who has an undischarged Return of Service (ROS) obligation may not be eligible to begin Ministry-funded training positions at Dalhousie. Candidates holding a pre-existing ROS obligation must disclose such obligations and provide a letter from their sponsor stating that they may participate in match at the time of application. Eligibility of Visa-Sponsored Residents Visa-sponsored residents are not eligible to apply for positions through the medicine subspecialty match. Instead, visa-sponsored trainees should contact the PGY4 Subspecialty Training Program to inquire about the application process for sponsored residents.
Eligibility Criteria for Critical Care Medicine Applicants:
	The following are eligible to apply. Graduates of a Canadian Medical School who are: Currently in their final year (R4-R6) or who have completed training in a Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Accredited program in Anesthesia, Emergency Medicine, General Surgery or Cardiac Surgery. Currently, enrolled in a Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Accredited program in Anesthesiology, Cardiac Surgery, Emergency Medicine, General Surgery, or Internal Medicine and have completed three (3) or four (4) years of one of these primary specialties prior to the entry into the Critical Care Medicine program. For these candidates in CBD programs, the overlapping (conjoint) model proposing that the responsibility for and oversight of shared competencies between the two disciplines is mutually shared (see The Application of ‘Overlap Training’ in Competence by Design policy by the Royal College) will be used. For these candidates in base specialties in time-based training models, overlapped training will be collaboratively tailored by Program Directors in both disciplines to align available training time, including electives, to obtain the training requirements for both disciplines. The trainee will remained registered in their home university and program during the overlap year. Currently in their final year or who have completed training in an accredited US ACGME-accredited program in Anesthesiology, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, General Surgery or Cardiac Surgery may be eligible to apply. Applicants in this category must receive an official ruling of eligibility to sit the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada exams in their core specialty prior to application to be eligible to apply. 	The following are eligible to apply for the Palliative Medicine program in the medicine subspecialty match at Dalhousie University: Graduates of a Canadian Medical School who are: Currently Internal Medicine Residents at PGY-3 or PGY-4 level. Currently in their final year (R5), or who have completed training in a Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada accredited program in Anesthesia, or Neurology. Entry from other specialties may occur but must follow completion of the primary specialty training that includes twelve (12) months of clinical internal medicine-based rotations with a minimum of six (6) months at a senior level. Currently in their final year or who have completed training in an accredited US ACGME-accredited program in Internal Medicine, Anesthesia, or Neurology may be eligible to apply. Applicants in this category must receive an official ruling of eligibility to sit the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada exams in their core specialty prior to application to be eligible to apply. Graduates of non-LCME/CACMS-accredited medical schools who are: Current Internal Medicine Residents at PGY-3 or PGY-4 level who are training in a Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada accredited program. Additional instructions for graduates of non-LCME/CACMS-accredited medical schools including Graduates of US Schools of Osteopathic Medicine (GNLCAMS):
	The following 4 requirements must be met for admission to Dalhousie University: 1. Legal Status Graduates of non-LCME/CACMS-accredited medical schools must be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident at the time of application. When applying you must submit one of the following verifications: Copy of Birth Certificate issued by an authority in Canada with any photo identification; or Copy of Canadian Passport; or Notarized/certified photocopy of Canadian citizenship certificate, Record of Landing; or Notarized/certified photocopy of Permanent Resident Card/Canadian Citizen Card. 2. Proof of MD Degree or DO Degree GNLCAMS must be a graduate of an acceptable medical school or a graduate of a US school of Osteopathic Medicine and must meet provincial licensing eligibility in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. A copy of medical/osteopathy school marks/transcripts and medical degree/diploma must be submitted. Documents that are not in English must be accompanied by a notarized translation. 3. Language Dalhousie University requires all applicants to be eligible to register for a license in all provinces in which the program *requires* training. Critical Care Applicants	9. Applications to Critical Care Medicine will be considered from the following: a. Candidates who have completed, or will have completed in the 12 months following application, training in the following Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) programs: Internal Medicine, and its subspecialties General Surgery Anesthesia Emergency Medicine Cardiac Surgery b. Candidates who have completed training, or will have completed training within 12 months following application, in other disciplines recognized by the RCPSC in addition to those listed in 10a, provided that their prior RCPSC training has been reviewed and approved by the RCPSC Adult Critical Care Medicine Specialty Committee and RCPSC Credentials Committee.
Return of Service Agreements	10. All applicants with a return of service agreement must attach a copy of that agreement to their applications. The printed agreement must indicate that subspecialty training in a province different from the one to which return of service is required is acceptable.

MCCQE2	For all programs: For those candidates who have ever taken the MCCQE2, they must submit their results. Supplemental Information Report is due by the file review date.

Language Proficiency	Language Proficiency English is the language of study at the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba. All applicants whose first language is not English must submit proof of English language proficiency to CaRMS by the file review opening date.CMG/USMG If you graduated from an English medical school in Canada or the US, you are exempt from providing proof of language proficiency. Candidates who attended medical school in Canada or the United States where the language of instruction or the primary language of patient care was not English, must fulfill the English Language Proficiency requirements. IMGs IMG applicants must fulfill the English Language Proficiency requirements. Candidates are exempted from English language proficiency testing under the following circumstances: the language of instruction and patient care throughout the entire undergraduate medical education curriculum or prior Postgraduate training was in English. Adult Critical Care Medicine, University of Manitoba

INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLICANTS
The University of Manitoba Department of Medicine performs a collective assessment and ranking of ALL applicants to the CaRMS – MSM Match.
At the University of Manitoba, Critical Care Medicine is a Section within the Department of Internal Medicine, and thereby participates in this collective assessment and ranking process.
However, Critical Care Medicine is distinct from other medical subspecialties in that applicants can pursue training in Critical Care Medicine after completing any one of at least five different base specialties (Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Anesthesia, Emergency Medicine, Cardiac Surgery and others).

To accommodate the unique nature of Critical Care Medicine, and specifically the varied base specialty training of applicants to this field, the University of Manitoba has created TWO streams for application to the Adult Critical Care Medicine Training Program:

A) Critical Care Medicine – Core Internal Medicine Entry Stream
This stream is available only to residents in Core Internal Medicine
and
B) Critical Care Medicine – Diverse Entry Stream
This stream is available to residents from multiple disciplines (including those in Core Internal Medicine, General Surgery and Surgical subspecialties, Anaesthesia, Emergency Medicine).

CORE INTERNAL MEDICINE APPLICANTS:
Applicants in the final year (PGY3) of Core Internal Medicine training, with no prior certification in any other Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) specialty, are eligible to apply to both of the above programs.
– You are encouraged to apply to BOTH Programs listed above through CaRMS online.
– You will be required to pay an application fee for EACH Program.
– If you choose to include both programs in your final CaRMS Rank List, you are REQUIRED to rank the two programs sequentially, and in the order listed on this page:

US trainees who are specialist certified by a member board of the American Board of Medical Specialties may request an exemption from the MCCEE and can provide the letter of exemption from the Medical Council of Canada in lieu of MCCEE results. RCPSC Assessment of Training Letter: Applicants who have completed their Internal Medicine residency training in an ACGME accredited training program in the United States must apply to the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada for an assessment of training to ensure that their training meets the Canadian training requirements. Proof of MD Degree	All matched applicants must meet the licensing criteria for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC) for postgraduate education.
Language	IMGs 1. Graduates of International Medical schools must fulfill the English Language Proficiency requirements of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC through the following, and results must be submitted to CaRMS by the Rank Order List deadline: a) Academic IELTS with a minimum score of 7 in each component with an overall band score of no less than 7. IELTS scores will be considered valid for 2 years from the date taken. 2. Applicants are considered to have met the English Language proficiency requirements if: a) the language of instruction at medical school was English, and b) the primary language of patient care was English, and c) the first and native language of the country where the physician was trained is English.
