Future match timelines are provided to support match planning activities. These timelines are approved by the AFMC Resident Matching Committee (ARMC) and may be subject to change.

Program descriptions open for editing
Program directors and administrators may log into CaRMS Online and start updating their program descriptions. Program descriptions must be finalized and submitted to the PGME office for review by the “Program descriptions sent to PGME office for approval” deadline.

Applicants may begin the application process.
Applicants who participated in a previous match can log into their CaRMS Online account using their existing username and password to participate in the match. Anyone who has forgotten their username or password can click on the ‘Forgot your username or password’ option on the CaRMS Online login page.
Program descriptions approved by PGME offices and available on carms.ca
Program descriptions for all programs participating in the match should be approved and available on carms.ca for applicants to review. Once program descriptions are approved, they are immediately available on carms.ca for applicants to consult.

Postgraduate offices indicate which programs are participating in the post-match process and the number of positions available.

Program selection opens
Applicants can start selecting the programs to which they wish to apply and assigning requested documents.
Ensure quota is entered in the Quota Management section of your CaRMS Online account.

Filter and file reviewer setup
Program directors and administrators can add or remove file reviewers for their program(s) and create filters in preparation for file review.
Once file reviewers have been added, they will receive an email from CaRMS with instructions on how to create an account in CaRMS Online.
Applications will be available for review when file review opens.

Programs now have access to all submitted applications and documents.

DEADLINE: Interview status updates in CaRMS Online
Programs are to complete all initial interview offer status updates in CaRMS Online by end of day.

DEADLINE: Invitations to interviews complete
All invitations to interviews are sent by programs by this date.

Photos are unmasked
Applicant photos are now available to view. Photos are not available prior to this date.
8 October to 26 November 2027
National interview period
Interviews are conducted during this period. Programs are responsible for scheduling interviews with applicants directly.

Reversions discussion period begins
Discussions regarding reversion options should begin now to ensure final reversion instructions are submitted by the PGME approval deadline for ranking, quota and reversions. Draft reversions should be sent to CaRMS two days prior to the PGME approval deadline to ensure final reversion instructions are reviewed and understood by CaRMS.
Program ranking and PGME approval period begins
Applicants and programs may begin creating their rank order lists in CaRMS Online.
Once a program rank order list has been submitted, postgraduate offices can begin approving them in CaRMS Online. Postgraduate offices can also begin approving quota and submitting reversion instructions starting today.

DEADLINE: Program rank order lists
Programs must submit their rank order lists through CaRMS Online by 14:00 ET. If programs do not submit by today, postgraduate offices can submit on their behalf.

DEADLINE: Ranking, quota and reversion approval for PGME offices
Postgraduate offices must approve rank order lists and quota, as well as upload finalized reversion instructions in CaRMS Online by this deadline.

MATCH DAY
Match results are available through CaRMS Online.
12 January 2028 at 15:00 ET
CaRMS Online access closes
This is the last day to access information in your CaRMS Online account for this match.
Applicants will no longer have access to the information in their application after this date.
Programs should download and save any match-related files before this date. Matched applicant files can only be retrieved from postgraduate offices once CaRMS Online closes.

Post-match process opens for applicants
Participating programs are listed in the program description directory.
Applicants can log into CaRMS Online and submit their application, along with required documents, to programs that are still accepting applications.
Once an application is submitted, it is immediately available to programs for review. All arrangements (interviews, offers, etc.) are coordinated between the postgraduate office, the program and the applicant; CaRMS is not involved beyond application submission.

Post-match process closes
The post-match process closes. Applicants are no longer able to apply to programs and programs are no longer able to view applications.
The post-match process may close early if all programs are withdrawn prior to the closing date.
