2020 Medicine Subspecialty Match — first iteration
If you have not previously participated in a CaRMS match, you can register here starting July 10, 2019 at 12:00 (noon) ET.
You will notice that there are milestones and deadlines listed in this timetable. Milestones are simply recommended dates designed to help you keep your application on track during each phase of the application process. These milestones are not deadlines.
Approved program descriptions for all programs that are participating in the 2020 Medicine Subspecialty Match are now available on carms.ca for applicants to review.
All applicants are able to log into their CaRMS Online account using their existing username and password to participate in the match. If you have forgotten your username or password, click on the Forgot your username or password option on the CaRMS Online login page.
Applicants are now able to start selecting the programs to which they wish to apply on CaRMS Online and assign requested documents.
All your MCC examinations and documents should be shared in the physiciansapply.ca transfers section of your application on CaRMS Online by this date to ensure your examination scores and documents are retrieved from the MCC before file review begins on August 28.
If you would like for your transcript, MSPR or any letters of reference to be translated using our translation service, you must make the request through CaRMS Online by this date to allow sufficient time for translation before file review begins on August 28. Documents must be available in your CaRMS Online application in order for us to be able to process the translation.
Note: we will continue to process translations that are requested after this date, but, due to the high volume of requests, we cannot guarantee they will be available in your account before file review begins.
If your referees are sending hardcopy letters of reference by mail, you should ensure they arrive at CaRMS by this date to guarantee they will be processed into your CaRMS Online application before letters of reference are available for programs to review on August 28.
Note: we will continue to process letters that arrive after this date, but, due to the volume of documents received, we cannot guarantee they will be scanned into your application before file review begins.
If referees are submitting a letter of reference through the CaRMS Online Referee portal, ensure they are submitted by this date to give applicants enough time to assign to programs in CaRMS Online before letters of reference are available for programs to review.
Your applications and all required documents must be assigned to programs by August 28 at 12:00 (noon) ET to be considered as being submitted on time.
All applications and document assignments completed after this time will be time-stamped as late.
Note: some programs will not review late applications or a document that arrives late. We encourage you to review program descriptions to ensure programs will review your application if it is submitted after file review has begun.
Programs now have access to all submitted applications and documents. They will review applications and communicate with applicants to schedule interviews.
Interviews will be scheduled during this period.
Applicants and programs are now able to begin creating their rank order lists.
Applicants must submit their rank order list through CaRMS Online by 15:00 ET. This deadline is firm – no rank order lists can be submitted after this time.
Note: you are able to modify your submitted list, but you must re-submit the list before the deadline.
Match results for the first iteration of the 2020 Medicine Subspecialty Match are available through CaRMS Online.
This is the last day to access information in your CaRMS Online account for the 2020 Medicine Subspecialty Match. You will no longer have access to the information in your application after this date.
