2020 Medicine Subspecialty Match — second iteration
You will notice that there are milestones and deadlines listed in this timetable. Milestones are simply recommended dates designed to help you keep your application on track during each phase of the application process. These milestones are not deadlines.
Applicants who do not already have a CaRMS Online account can register for an account.
Match participation opens for unmatched first iteration applicants
Unmatched applicants from the first iteration may log into CaRMS Online and participate in the second iteration.
Note: program selection for the second iteration opens on November 8 at 12:00 (noon) ET.
Approved program descriptions for all programs participating in the second iteration of the Medicine Subspecialty Match are available on carms.ca for applicants to review.
Program selection period begins
Applicants are able to start selecting the programs to which they wish to apply on CaRMS Online as well as assign requested documents.
DEADLINE: Submission of translation requests
While we will process any translation requests for MSPRs, transcripts and letters of reference during the second iteration, we cannot guarantee that they will be in your account and ready to assign to programs by the opening of file review on November 14.
All your MCC examinations and documents should be shared in the physiciansapply.ca transfers section of your application on CaRMS Online by this date to ensure your examination scores and documents are retrieved from the MCC before file review begins on November 14.
If your referees are sending hardcopy letters of reference by mail, you should ensure they arrive at CaRMS by this date to guarantee they will be processed into your CaRMS Online application before file review on November 14.
Note: we will continue to process letters that arrive after this date, but, due to the volume of documents received, we cannot guarantee they will be scanned into your application before file review begins.
Your applications and all required documents must be assigned to programs by November 14 at 12:00 (noon) ET to be considered as being submitted on time.
All applications and document assignments completed after this time will be time-stamped as late.
Note: some programs will not review late applications or a document that arrives late. We encourage you to review program descriptions to ensure programs will review your application if it is submitted after file review has begun.
Programs now have access to all submitted applications and documents. They will review applications and communicate with applicants to schedule interviews.
Note: there is no designated national interview period for the second iteration of the Medicine Subspecialty Match.
Applicants and programs are now able to begin creating their rank order lists.
Applicants must have their rank order list submitted through CaRMS Online by 15:00 ET. This deadline is firm – no rank order lists can be submitted after this time.
Note: you are able to modify your submitted list, but you must re-submit the list before the deadline.
Match results for the second iteration of the 2020 Medicine Subspecialty Match are available through CaRMS Online.
This is the last day to access information in your CaRMS Online account for the 2020 Medicine Subspecialty Match. You will no longer have access to the information in your application after this date.
