Information concernant le cycle de jumelage de 2024

Les critères d’admissibilité provinciaux pour l’Alberta sont fournis par la University of Alberta et la University of Calgary et le Collège des médecins et chirurgiens de l’Alberta et sont seulement disponible en anglais.

CRITERIA APPLICABLE TO ALL MEDICAL GRADUATES

GENERAL INFORMATION Please be aware that Alberta Health Services (AHS) determines immunization requirements for all healthcare workers who provide services on AHS, Alberta Precision Laboratories, Covenant Health, Carewest, and Capital Care property. This applies to resident physicians. Resident physicians matched to any University of Alberta or University of Calgary residency program must ensure they are able to comply with the AHS policy to start training July 1, 2024. Immunization requirements are subject to change as per AHS policy.

All matched applicants must meet the licensing criteria for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) for postgraduate education.

MATCH STREAMS The second iteration of the CaRMS match will include two parallel streams:

  • Canadian Medical Graduate (CMG) Stream; and
  • International Medical Graduate (IMG) Stream

each having designated positions.

CMG Stream 

Eligible unmatched CMGs and resident physicians currently in training may apply to the unfilled CMG positions.

IMG Stream

To be eligible for the second iteration, IMGs must be deemed eligible by the AIMG Program to participate in the CaRMS match process for designated Alberta IMG positions. AIMG Program eligibility criteria are specified on the AIMG Program website.

Graduates of schools of osteopathic medicine in the United States are eligible for IMG designated positions but must be assessed by the Alberta International Medical Graduate Program (AIMG).

University of Alberta

Some programs may have a blended second iteration; please see individual program descriptions for more information.

University of Calgary

There will be no cross-over or transfer between the two streams.

RESTRICTIONS The second iteration is available for program transfer only for graduates of Canadian medical schools. IMGs currently enrolled in residency programs are not eligible for the CaRMS Match in Alberta.

The R-1 CaRMS cannot be used for re-entry.
