RESTRICTIONS | Please be aware the Provincial Health Officer (PHO) in British Columbia has mandated that all hospital and health care employers establish, implement, and ensure compliance with a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy effective October 26, 2021. Residents matched to any University of British Columbia residency program must ensure they are able to comply with the PHO directive in order to start training on July 1, 2024. | ||||||||||||

CITIZENSHIP REQUIREMENTS |
CaRMS is partnering with third-party organizations to automate the verification of citizenship/legal status required by postgraduate offices for entry into residency. Third-party verification simplifies the process for applicants and programs. All applicants who do not receive third-party citizenship verification will be required to upload and assign an acceptable proof of citizenship document. Please see additional information here. All supporting citizenship documentation must be notarized or certified. |
ADDITIONAL CRITERIA FOR CANADIAN MEDICAL GRADUATESA Canadian Medical Graduate (CMG) or U.S. Allopathic Medical Graduate (USMG) is an individual who received their medical degree from a medical school accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools (CACMS) or the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME). |

Language assessment document accepted: Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP) – General
Applicants are not required to provide proof of English Language proficiency if they are currently training in a Canadian/U.S. training program that delivers training in English. English Language Proficiency Requirements for graduates of Quebec Medical Schools: Candidates who attended medical school in Quebec where the language of instruction or the primary language of patient care was not English, must fulfill the English Language Proficiency requirements of the College of Physicians of Surgeons of BC. ADDITIONAL CRITERIA FOR INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL GRADUATESAn International Medical Graduate (IMG) is an individual who received their medical degree from a medical school that listed with the World Directory of Medical Schools (World Directory) published by the Foundation for the Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER) and the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME). A U.S. Osteopathic Medical Graduate (USMG- Osteo) is an individual who received their medical degree from an accredited Osteopathic medical school. |
